On a steep site, between Colonial villas that are perched on the cliff edge, a new house was required that was accessible from the street, while enjoying the elevated views over Wellington Harbour. A large hole in the ground allowed a ground level garage, and a two storey flat to be created under the main house. Accessed via a lift, the home meanders up the gentler slope at the top of the cliff, opening out to courtyards and gardens, and framing the view.
